Is the Survivability of Silver Fir under Condition of Strong Ungulate Pressure Related to Mycobiota of Bark-Stripping Wounds?

The aim of the research was to check whether healing bark-stripping wounds silver fir tree trunks reduces share wood-decomposing fungi, which may be result inter-species interactions. study carried out in Gorce National Park Polish Western Carpathians analyzed drill holes sapwood from three types (fresh, healed and old) on with a diameter at breast height (DBH) 4.0–16.9 cm as by red deer (Cervus elaphus). In wood fresh Alternaria alternata (Fr.) Keissl. Arthrinium arundinis (Corda) Dyko & B. Sutton had largest mycobiota. Phompsis spp. species Sydowia polyspora (Bref. Tavel) E. Müll. Epicoccum nigrum Link were also isolated. dominants old Eutypa spp., Phomopsis Cylindrobasidium evolvens Jülich. Healed dominated Trichoderma atroviride P. Karst, fungus antagonistic many fungal pathogens. Such properties are shared A. arundinis, especially common wound wood. It seems that these fungi support process wounded regeneration (healing wounds) limit activity wood-decaying age, makes survival very high. Thus, even strong pressure cannot considered basic factor determining dynamics this part Carpathians.
